I think the second cover looks cluttered, and there's less black (from the t-shirt) to underscore the "Black" in the title.

Now, here's a book where I felt there was some serious improvement from hardcover to paperback:

Felix Gilman's Thunderer in hardcover

Thunderer in paperback

I think the 2nd one is more aesthetically pleasing to begin with, but once you read the book you realize what an improvement it really is... I refuse to believe that the character on the front of the hardcover looks ANYTHING like that, whereas the bird in the paperback version is representative of something very central to the story.CKHBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17741681893677604323noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10466335.post-45262914435057886012009-06-22T10:43:18.084-05:002009-06-22T10:43:18.084-05:00Love how these work together with different croppi...Love how these work together with different cropping. If you are interested in this, you probably already know who Dean Wareham is. There is no need to belabor the point.Tropolisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01337186706079633097noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10466335.post-71032687373409336592009-06-22T00:26:49.820-05:002009-06-22T00:26:49.820-05:00Perhaps because the guitar is "rock & rol...Perhaps because the guitar is "rock & roll" enough? :-)Amir Muhammadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08144421497045270238noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10466335.post-7478471958187958332009-06-21T22:33:12.669-05:002009-06-21T22:33:12.669-05:00Also very interesting is the fact that the first o...Also very interesting is the fact that the first one is categorized as "Rock & Roll Romance" and the other one as a "Memoir"...Gonçalo Mirahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08825974448033031198noreply@blogger.com
