Savage Pastimes
The Britannica Blog has a nice piece on entertainment and violence and reproduces the cover of Harold Schechter's Savage Pastimes. Whoever found this photo gets a shiny new badge and a new cap gun, courtesy of the BDR.
Nah, I'm with you Joseph, I love it. Especially because it's not a contemporary shot. It nicely supports Schechter's point in addition to being a thoroughly engaging image. That kid's look-you-in-the eye smirk is killer.
Very striking image!
ReplyDeleteNina Laricchia was the designer for this jacket.
Great image. cover design could have used a bit more love. Especially for that oddly placed subtitle...
ReplyDeleteyeah, i agree - it's the first thing I read...

ReplyDeleteIt's a brilliant photo.
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome cover! I love the usage of black and white and spot color. Then again, I'm a sucker for old black and white photography.
