It's not often that we get to look at book interiors. But here's a really interesting one. (Be sure to click on the image of the page to get a larger view.) Like Derrida's
Glas and Avital Ronnel's
The Telephone Book, this might be more interesting to look at than actually read. I know I'll want to spend some time looking through it.

Just looked at this book this morning. The cover by Archie Ferguson is stunning: The flower evolves into an eyeball, close-up coming closer. A glance inside revealed a complex layout with inversions and a reading path that goes back to front, front to back, upsidedown. Special inks are used; all of the "o"s appear to be a PMS spot color; type changes size and leading and case. Strangely, I could not find a credit for the interior designer, although so much work had been done. But in reading bits of the book, I found that the writing did not bear such scrutiny. All wrapping paper, no gift. Has anyone read this?
ReplyDeleteI would imagine that the interior design is all Danielewski.
ReplyDeleteWow, that is a wonderful green and magnificant clarity for a close up photograph.
