Totally not.

It is nice, but the materials chosen leave much to be desired: the slipcase is cheap, 100lb stock, which means it won't last long. The debossed and inked lettering on the spine and half-binding is very sloppy (at least on my copy), and the pages inside are made with cheap-feeling paper. It's a shame, because the book, as designed, is beautiful. But it goes to show how much production counts when making a book.

Maybe the materials are cheap because they're recycled or made to be easily biodegradable ... which actually makes sense given the subject of the book.

Anon, that would have been a good point maybe ten years ago, but not anymore; there's plenty of recyclable/recycled paper material out there that's nice, heavy, durable stock,as opposed to the lightweight stuff employed for the slipcase and the guts; and the printing on the half binding is sloppy, period. It's still a beautifully designed book, it's just that the production doesn't live up to it.

There is an unfortunate binding problem with this book. The type is falling into the gutter making it hard to read. Also, the binding is too tight so it won't stay open. I liked the recycled paper and the slip case is beautiful.

That does look incredible.

If you leave this book out in the sun with the slip cover on, the sun comes through the holes and creates a pattern of discolouration on the inner cover.
