I would not jump the gun as far as saying the idea was first done by Kidd (I think he did that cover). The abbreviation and shorthand of words is not uncommon in our current texting and messaging society.
That's a dumb ad though. Compared to the ingenuity of the cover at the time it was done. It is interesting to note that the actual title had to be written on the book either way. I'm sure that was an editorial suggestion...

Yes, Kidd did the cover, which came out in 2000 or so.

Yeah, i wasn't sure who did it. Kid did a version that had some sort of stretched, angle type on it. Anyway. Cool coincidence.
I've seen that ad. We bank at Chase. I don't get it. Like the ATMs work faster? That's dumb.
