Pocket Penguins 70s

Whenever I think about not buying the Pocket Penguins 70th Anniversary box set I punch myself in the face. I *love* how the images on these three are so dominant, and yet there's great treatment of type as well.

I didn't know about this box set, but after seeing these covers I want to punch myself in the face for not buying it as well! Is there no way to find it now?

You can get it used, but it's quite pricey.

Yeeh, I've been looking all over for this as well and can't find it.

These covers and the whole damn collection is just beautiful. The covers are deeply conceptual, almost borderline purely art driven. Very arresting. Where can you get it used and how much?

I've seen sets on Amazon.co.uk (new, but through a bookseller) for about 150 pounds. That's $300! Egads.

Hi people.

I work in Pearson Education in India. And Penguin has this biannual warehouse sale here. Last sale nearly the complete Penguin 70s series was there. And it was pretty cheap, Rs 25 each. Which would translate to around 2 books per dollar.

A shame that I was short of money then and had to go for the bulkier books coming at the same price. I got about 150 penguin-dk-bloomsbury-etc books.

If there's some 70s books left next sale, I might pick them up for you guys.

Yup, they're beautiful. I'm glad I can at least look at them on line.

Hey, it looks like Abbeys Bookshop in Sydney, Australia is selling the sets on line for 200 Australian dollars. One Australian dollar is about 85 cents in US.
So it's about $170. In the UK Amazon.com they're selling for about $300 US.

Okay, I bought the set from Abbey's Road. I'm blaming all of you who wrote about this. Do I NEED this set? No. Is my book design business doing so well that I can just afford to drop that kind of money on a set of books? No. Am I going to contact Abbey's Books to see if I can get a refund and stop this? Absolutely no. I'm so excited about getting it that I will be on pins and needles until it arrives from Australia.
