Self Help
Designer unknown (UK edition)
There's nothing about this cover that I don't like. The Guardian review glows; I'll have to keep my eye out for this when it's released in the States.
And by the way, just so that you don't pick this up and think it's actually a self-help title, the American edition will be called Pravda, because that won't cause any confusion either ;-)

My first visual impression was a swastika. It think it's the S.
Yeah, it has that feel because of the constructivist treatment to the title. I like that the type is hand done. I hope that the design approach to this cover is at least somewhat based in the time period that this type of style evokes. Otherwise it's piss-poor. When choosing such a strong design reference for a cover, there needs to be a defined link within context, otherwise it is useless and confusing and irrespective of the literate world. And then there is night club posters and David Bowie...
But a book still has a clear job...
