Right designer, wrong typeface. It's Mrs. Eaves. Overused, but still effective.

Typeface does look more like Mrs Eves Italics or like anonymous said, Filosofia.

Penguin proves time and again that the grid formula really works and can be just as creative a medium for the designer to express the content...

Speaking of Penguin books, I think I read somewhere that Paul Buckle's (don't know if he did these or not) favorite typefaces to use are Futura and Filosofia. I have to say they are some of the most perfect faces...
