The thing about life is that one day you'll be dead
The Thing About Life... designed by Chip Kidd
No One Belongs Here...designed by John Fulbrook III
I've said it before (re. the Miranda July title): designs like this stand out more for what they aren't than for what they are -- and that's not a bad thing. If I see something like this a couple times a year, I'm definitely going to pick it up off the new books table. Any more than that and I'll start having nightmares (again) about Kant's Critique of Pure Reason. And is it odd that both of these use sentence and not title case?

Evan though the Shields cover reads easier, the July cover looks sexier. I like the tighter leading and kerning. I wonder why the pub wanted a cover that looked so much like the July cover.
Moving the period onto its own line is what makes the shields cover work.
^ agreed. Otherwise ho hum, but amazing concept with the period placement.
Good one.
Miranda July has an excellent website, too. Very similar to the book cover.
