Very cool illustration -- I'm seeing more and more of these mosaic kind of illustrations -- but what got me to the bookstore on my lunch hour was to check out if the band on the top and bottom was on the jacket or printed directly on the cover. It's the latter.
An interesting blend of styles, to say the least. But I think it works pretty nicely. Check it out next time you're in a bookstore.

Wow.
Forget the wrap. That brick of a book—with Frederic Church landscape and spine-only type treatment—is where the fun stuff is happening...
RdV certainly is the master of the wrap, and what lives underneath... even though in this particular case I think they could have been integrated a bit more... Still, very nice.
And now that I think about it, there's no "edited by" citation on the spine...
Or Al Gore!
Either the plane carrying the entire marketing division flew into a mountainside on the way to sales conference.... or Al Gore's celebrity status is starting to... cool.
Overall, a very hip, modern looking and functioning piece. I almost feel like while we are at it—lets throw in a die cut somewhere...
the dustjacket that doesn't reach all the way up the book reminds me of Maps & Legends the new Michael Chabon book--except that you could probably get a mylar on this one, and I haven't managed to do that for the Chabon.
