The Man Who Turned Into Himself
Design by LeeAnn Falciani
Any tale involving alternate universes should always have its characters wondering if their eyes are deceiving them, so this cover for a recent reissue passes the test. The yellow pupil? I like it, and I'm sure it looks great from across the bookstore, but I'm dying to know how many colors were cycled through before this was approved. My guess? At least 37.

Black would have not been a bad color. It would look more like an eye. But the fact is that yellow pops and will get noticed.
Yellow works, because it's also a play on the moon... isn't it?
This is really nice. I love the dual effect.
I probably wouldn't have noticed that it looks like an eye if it weren't for this blog. I agree that black would have made the eye more obvious, if that is what the designer was going for.
The designer of this wonderful cover is LeeAnn Falciani. Grrr.
Thanks Henry!
A Cure fan's subtle nod to the "A Forest" single.. Well done.
Hey, have you seen the "After Dark" paperback in person? The hardcover was untoppable, but this might be my favorite of the Gall Vintage covers, and fits the atmosphere of the novel almost as well as the original.
Hi Danup: Yes, I've seen it, but I'm not sure if I've made up my mind yet. I do want to re-read it this summer, though, so maybe that will help me decide.
