Wondering aloud how nice it would be if he could be totally honest with his 4-year-old about her drawing of a dog, comedian Louis CK says "Show me a dog that looks like that and I'll give you $1,000." (NSFW, very filthy, very funny video here; the $1,000 offer is at the 4 minute mark.)

Yeah, that would either be a HUGE cap or a really small bottle.
I agree also to have the title repeated just in case you don't get it makes it seem sadly more unconfident.
It's very busy to look at. Your making me work ultra hard to read that already very complex title.
It's fun to look. Kind of a lack of balance and proportion with the subtitle (which has to repeat the title) and random placement of the "author of".
Wow, what a visual disaster—but you can tell the person doing it had a decent idea and even a good design sense... it just didn't work out.
I like it.
The title and byline pop--tho' the smaller "author of" has that "exiled from the rest" feel. And then the bottle image sinks in. The proportion of the cap to the bottle makes me wonder whether there's meaning taken up in the book.
Altogether, I think a very successful cover.
I think it´s just horrible...
I think a more effective design would be something showing tap water pouring into a commercial-looking bottle, or, a close-up shot of a bunch of Perrier bottles all lined up in what is obviously a torrential rain downpour.
Dunno if this is obvious to everyone, but it took me a second to see that the bottle shape is a drop of water, which I kind of like conceptually. Sorry if I'm stating the obvious.
Hmm....the bottle doesn't bother me so much. There's something cute and Disney-esque about the design, which looks like an ad for a new beverage. Looks a little like an Orangina bottle:

Horrible! I dream of Jeannie in a water bottle? Any graphic designer who uses the warp text/fish effect in photoshop ought to find another job.
If it's supposed to be a drop of water (rachel), which I do see now that you mention it, it's confusing to have it coming out of a cap, and to have the water droplet texture within it--those choices are trying to make one shape do too much, I think. Commit! Also, I agree that the repetition of the title detracts.
Overall, looks like several different ideas jammed into one ugly and confusing cover. Any one of them might have worked, but together--yikes.
I don't like the background, but I especially don't like how the blue text pattern and the white background pattern are actually two different patterns of raindrops - they don't "match up," so to speak. If you absolutely need to have a water droplet pattern (because apparently the blue and the bottle shape don't say "water" enough?), then at least only have one water droplet pattern, and color it blue when its inside the letters.
That cover is just so busy. I never thought a "text only" non-illustration cover could be so busy (I'm sure it's a surprise to the designer!) but the trouble is, it's not "non-illustration," really. The title makes the illustration of a bottle, and the background has the illustration of raindrops - that's two, right there. Throw in all the colors and the duplicated title and just...ugh.
