A quick spin around your local bookstore would yield a good number of covers very much like this. But for some reason, this one is freaking me out. (Actually, I think it's the width between the lemur's eyes w/r/t the rest of the human's features. Either that or I really just don't like lemurs.)
Designer Jonathan Sainsbury was nice enough to send in the entire cover. Here's the back. And he notes: "...the title bars (are) matte. The rest is gloss." Thanks Jonathan!

It certainly has that flip and match book quality to it. You the ones that you can flip the panels to change the eyes nose and lips etc...
The only thing freakier would have been to put a salmon head with eyes on the top (salmonella) and the lower half of a porn star's head below (planet porno).
The book is very Japanese. The word "porno" is meant to funny. It's not about porn, although there is sex. All the people, plants, and animals on an alien planet are in constant heat. It's kind of goofy. The stories are meant to be funny, a little bizarre, and with some psychological social commentary thrown in. They're inspired from the writer's dream journal.

The lemur gives me the heebeejeebies too. Strange that the owl doesn't have quite the same effect. As a former book-industry inmate, I LOVE the blog.
Uh, truly bizarre. Works well, though; I would definitely check the insides if I came across this one in the library!
