A Reader Writes...

(I'm currently traveling and caring for a sick family member so posts will be limited for a few days, but this landed in the comments on a recent post and it made me laugh, which is exactly what I need right now.)

"Auuuuugh!!

Listen People. Google “Book Cover Design Blogs”. This book blogging thing is getting way out of control. I’m all for freedom of speech but this market is more saturated than government TARP funds. The gig of promoting of one’s self or others through the guise of “information” is UP!

I know, I know, This blog was here long before others, but the spawned droids run amok!

OK, back to work!"

Hey Joseph. Thank you for a great blog.
And I hope the person you're caring for gets a lot better.

You have a great website, and you may have been "one of the first", but you cover a niche market that leaves a lot for other blogs to cover.

I would like to see you cover some more mainstream books so I can hear your thoughts on their cover art. Check out my website to see what I read: The Novel Housewife. Let me know what you think about the genres I read and if you would ever review their cover art.

Oh, and I know what it's like to have sick family. hope everything goes well.

How old is The Book Design Review? I don't remember seeing it when I started Covers back in late '05, but that doesn't mean it wasn't alive and kicking.

The only one I remember being around was the now-defunct "Forward: A Book Design Blog"

Best of luck with the family issues, man.

Ben: the BDR started in Jan 05. I think there's been close to 1100 posts. And Giles from the Foreward blog was instrumental in showing it some initial love.

And thanks to all for the good thoughts in a difficult time.
