The Monster Variations is wonderful. everything here is nice, but that one jumped out at me.
Cheap is also very solid and highly visible...
Very interesting author treatment on the Raising the Perfect Child title. I wonder how many meetings they had before they let that one fly...

LOVE the last one. Cheap is kinda funny and cute, and the others-- eh.
Kind of over seeing vintage and vintage-styled images adorning book covers. "Raising The Perfect Child" is wonderful, but I hope it is the last of its kind.
The vintage style on "Raising the Perfect Child" is very appropriate for the content and the message… unlike some covers that use retro images because they look cool. Any other style would not be as effective.
Raising the Perfect Child is such a fun cover. Jeff did a couple of designs, which you can view here. These are all beautiful though.

The last one is my favorite. I have heard a lot about this book. It's supposed to be hilarious!

Raising the Perfect Child gets my gut reaction favorite for immediate visceral connection of bygone era images and what-should-be-bygone era parenting techniques.
However, I think Cheap is very smart on top of being eye-catching. It would win my vote for favorite on second glance, had it not been for what seems to be an arbitrary use of tape for the subtitle. A coupon, a receipt, perhaps a sale tag, all could have been more appropriate if the desire was for something other than straight text (which would have worked best, leaving the emphasis on the great penny image).
So Raising the Perfect Child wins my nod of approval.
Cheap, although visually attractive, has three things going on at once, and Raising the perfect child is problematic in the sense that it looks really crowded - what's more, I don't like transparant colored objects like the turquoise circle - it always looks like a cheap solution, and just ugly. The Bunny Munro cover on the other hand, is VERY funny and clever.
The printer who printed "The Death of Bunny Munro" came by Friday and showed me this jacket. It was beautiful. It's uncoated black paper with the illustration foil stamped in black, the pink and orange are PMS colors. It was really nicely done, they were very proud of the foil stamping on this.
It (Bunny Munro) is fantastic in person. That's for sure.
I love Carin Goldberg's jacket designs...I always need to take a look at them a second, or third time. I've read both of those stories by West, and the cover suits it wonderfully (and beats the older packaging) out of the water
