all very powerful covers that make you realize that book design is well and happy.
Got to agree with Ian - 5 crackers today. Morbid Curiosity and Strange Things particularly floating my boat :-)
I really like Strange Things Happen, except for the incredibly poor placement of the blue text; unfortunately it looks like a book I have no interest in reading. Morbid Curiosity is a real stunner too.
These are all terrific. I love The Journey Prize the most.
I'm a graphic design student at the School of Visual Arts so I'm really glad I found this blog. It is full of inspiring ideas.
Thanks, Jenya.
The POPLAR typeface is getting really popular these days. It is a good one when used correctly, which I feel it has been with "Automatic World". However, I find the "R" somewhat irksome because the of the little flare on the second leg. It seems somewhat non sequitur given the nature of the rest of the characters. But yeah, five solid covers.
These covers all have some nice imagery and strong concepts, but I'm also seeing some typographic problems in all of them. OK -maybe not "problems", but there's definitely some awkwardness.
Most of "Amazing Absorbing", that floating "stories" on "Journey Prize", "Automatic World" is just cramped all around, etc...
I like the series of amazing boy......He seems so cool and charming.
I admire the first one. the best poster and cover to a book.
Uhhhhh no on "Strange Things Happen". It feels awkwardly unfinished/unpolished.
