Cash vs. Zeppelin
A Heartbeat and a Guitar designed by Shepard Fairey
When Giants Walked the Earth designed by Orion Books
I don't do snarky very well, but on the way to see the new Shepard Fairey-designed book about Johnny Cash, I saw this new clearly-not-designed-by-Shepard Fairey book about Led Zeppelin. You get what you pay for.
UPDATE: Orion Creative Director Lucie Stericker was nice enough to point out that images of all four members have been produced as posters; here's everyone else:

I have to admit that I prefer the typography on the Zeppelin cover. Seems more honest.
Ben: Hmmmm. I'll think about that.
Cash looks great on the shelf. I would pick up Zep only cause I'm a fan, not cause it's doing much for my eyes...
Ian: I'm partial to Hammer of the Gods myself.
It indicates the old one and the new one. A guitar revolution.
Good that you saw it though.... This sold really well for us, and even though we created this over two years ago the new paperback posters - one for each member of the band - look amazing.
Hi Lucie: have a link for the posters? I'd be glad to post it.
Are we already Fairey-saturated? The Cash cover looks amazing (I love the detailing in the background), but I don't want to see too many more designs in this style.
can't give you a link but happy to send a pdf...

So for someone who knows nothing about book covers could you please explain why one is "better" than the other?
