In Cold Blood, Magnum Collection Edition (and a few others)
BDR reader Cynthia pointed this out to me this morning; it's one of six in the Penguin Magnum Collection published earlier this year. Click for a much larger version -- and note the removable sticker. Cool.
Penguin has published a number of different editions over the years; here's a few. The first is designed by David Pelham (1970); the second is uncredited and is from 1966. (The first two images are from Seven Hundred Penguins.) Anyone know anything about the last two?
UPDATE: I missed this one, designed by S. Neil Fujita. (Read about the hatpin and Capote's reaction to it here):

Those are nifty, and far, far better than the RH versions stateside.
Seth: agreed. I'd post the Random House cover but I can't find one that doesn't have Philip Seymour Hoffman mugging on the cover.
The last one is an illustration by Andy Bridge. Love the b/w Modern Classics cover...
I always thought this one was pretty wonderful too. Scroll down to the middle of the article.

I completely forgot to mention when I sent in the Magnum cover that I've got a first edition first printing copy (the hatpin cover). I found it at the Used Book Superstore in Burlington, MA. I could barely keep a straight face at the checkout. Cost? $1.
The Bridge design is very classy and conveys the novel well, but I really do like the dramatic effect of the cover with the "O"s as blood splatters resembling gunshots. The Fujita cover is the one I've known for years. As for the blue and red cover: What were they thinking? It does nothing for me.
Keenan designed the Modern Classic series - and did most of the picture research for the covers (if not all of them you would have to ask him..._
About that removable sticker...What' I'd make removable is the Title and UPC Code on the spine!
There are two different generations of Penguin Modern Classic shown here. Keenan designed the template with the silver panel at the bottom (featuring the Andy Bridge rifle illustration). Jim Stoddart designed the current template – the black and white cover here – with picture research by Samantha Johnson.
