Obamanos

Designer credit to come

I know he's just waving.

But here's where my mind went immediately:

Anyone else?

I didn't get that until you pointed it out.

I wonder if your feelings about him played into your linking the two photos? (I don't even know if you're an Obama fan).

I did a disastrous cover design recently where I had a child's raised hand coming up from the bottom of the cover, signifying (to me) that the child was ready for school, doing well, and eager to be recognized.

The art director read it as a child drowning.

I felt like an idiot. Then I wondered if my own childhood struggles played into my design and if I was unconsciously depicting what my early childhood was like.

Shorty: it's amazing how many different ways designs can be read. Sorry you took a beating for that cover...I expect to take one for this post ;-)

I just thought of something like this. I immediately saw him as standing in front of an enormous, enraptured crowd; the slight dutch angle serves that very well. If that was the intent of the design, it's dead on.

Tropolist: I think I'm hung up on both the Dutch angle and the blue sky behind both...

I thought high-five.
Do you think there's a particular reason that they chose a picture of him being serious rather than smiling? It just seems like the title of the book is kind of playful, but the picture is very sober.
I'm also distracted by the word "manos" inside "Obamanos" (manos=hands).
But as my only credential is that I'm a voracious reader, these observations are very non-professional!

*sigh* I love him.

Oops. I was thinking along the lines of 'Heil Hitler!', though the fingers are a little too spread apart.

Hazel, I thought of Mussolini, so I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one. I was really beginning to wonder about where my head was.

Whew! I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought of Hitler... Don't get me wrong, I like Obama well enough. Not my favorite, but he's a good guy... not enough like a menacing dictator, lol.
