From very early on, it wasn't even close. David Pearson's cover design for The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction garnered just over 15% of the votes and is your favorite of 2008:

Why You Should Read Kafka Before You Waste Your Life received just four more votes than Against Happiness; they rounded out the top three:

Other designs receiving greater than 5% of the votes are Obsession, A History; Violence; Maps and Legends; and Soon I Will Be Invincible.
Again, thanks for your votes, your visits and your comments. Here's all of this year's favorites, in case you missed them.
I'm a bit surprised by the winner - not that it isn't great, but I didn't find it _that_ great. #2 and #3 were my favorites, though.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that Against Happiness made it to the top three. I really liked its simplicity and universal recognition.
ReplyDeleteEach of these is likeable, memorable and well-designed. They all leave me dissatisfied and lead me to ask what more I want from a really great book cover design. My answer: depth, ambiguity, some degree of complexity. These all seem to be one liners worth a smile of recognition and little more.
ReplyDeleteNot my picks. But nice nonetheless.
ReplyDeleteWhy you should read KAFKA seems really good. I try to mix and match my reading, from historical/fiction, which makes KAFKA perfect, to self-help like Dr Sha's Soul Power Series.
