Hmmm. I have to say that the later is a dynamic cover in its own respect and ends up being a visual pun. The fact that the designer took an array of silhouettes and made it look like a composition book is crafty and shows insight.
While I too love Gray's work, that cover has always bugged me and felt out of place and disjointed. I like Marc Cozza's version better.
Grays version is just at random and does not communicate comics or the feel of the book at all. All I am saying is that Grays cover is artistic, but this one is crafty in it's usage and treatment of a similar concept. So there.

I love Gray's silhouettes. I think as a whole, his design is simpler and communicates faster, and his silhouettes are so graceful and sexy.
