And The Results Are In: Your Favorites of 2008
My thanks to those of you who voted this year. A total of 4,502 votes were cast; that's a 79% increase from last year's 2519 votes.
From very early on, it wasn't even close. David Pearson's cover design for The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction garnered just over 15% of the votes and is your favorite of 2008:
Why You Should Read Kafka Before You Waste Your Life received just four more votes than Against Happiness; they rounded out the top three:

I'm a bit surprised by the winner - not that it isn't great, but I didn't find it _that_ great. #2 and #3 were my favorites, though.
I'm glad that Against Happiness made it to the top three. I really liked its simplicity and universal recognition.
Each of these is likeable, memorable and well-designed. They all leave me dissatisfied and lead me to ask what more I want from a really great book cover design. My answer: depth, ambiguity, some degree of complexity. These all seem to be one liners worth a smile of recognition and little more.
Not my picks. But nice nonetheless.
Why you should read KAFKA seems really good. I try to mix and match my reading, from historical/fiction, which makes KAFKA perfect, to self-help like Dr Sha's Soul Power Series.
